Aim:
To give the trainee the skills to design a Manual Handling course, the knowledge deliver it effectively and the competence to answer questions on the subject.

Course Objectives:
On completion of the course the trainee will be able to teach and

  • Explain the legislation around Manual Handling
  • Explain the parts of the spinal column and the functions of each part
  • Explain the main risk factors for back problems
  • Carry out Manual Handling Risk Assessments
  • Measure the learners performance of manual handling techniques
  • Measure the learners performance of training techniques
  • Develop and deliver a manual handling course

Certification:
On successful completion the trainee will receive a Level 6 QQI Manual Handling Instructors Certificate valid for 5 years
